Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a holistic medicine that began over 2,000 years ago in China. Acupuncture is the use of small needles to free and aid one’s qi, often translated as energy or life force. This method of healing doesn’t just treat disease, it treats the person, combining the physical with the emotional or spiritual, internal being. Oriental medicine strives to heal with the idea
that the mind is integrated with the body, that both must be attended to. The best results can be achieved from acupuncture when it is practiced regularly. Rather than a quick fix, it should be viewed as a lifestyle change, like eating healthy, or regular exercise.
Acupuncture sessions can be just Acupuncture, or include cupping, bodywork, herbology, nutrition and postural alignment, at the doctor's discretion.

Cupping Therapy
Just like acupuncture, cupping has been around for a long time and it is used on its own or as an adjunctive modality to prevent colds, decongest tissues, treat injuries and even help reduce the appearance of cellulite. It is a very gentle technique that varies according to the condition. There are two main types of cupping, flash, in which the cups are placed on the skin and removed immediately in a quick succession. This is usually used to treat acute conditions like colds. Sliding cups are used to decongest muscular tissue and for cellulite. Stationary cups are used on acupuncture points to treat stubborn conditions. This is the kind that can leave those pepperoni style marks (these are not bruises and your acupuncturist will give you the scoop on it).
Postural Alignment
With any pain or sports injury, there is usually some kind of postural misalignment or compensation. When this is not treated, the pain will come back regularly. Our goal is not to make captive patients, but to give them tools to fix the pain. By correcting the posture, they can actively work towards being pain free.
Ayurveda
This ancient discipline is just as old as Acupuncture and works with similar principles. When appropriate, we use it to determine dietary and lifestyle modifications that can be more effective for a given patient.
Nutritional Counseling
Nutrition can be the root and the cure to many disorders. By analyzing our patient's diet we can easily identify potential issues and suggest modifications. This is a very effective and straightforward way to gain control over your health. You can make the changes that seem within reach and will also be given tools to keep your future choices in check.
